Then
I remove the rear leaf sight and install a “Williams’s
WGRS” receiver peep sight.
I remove the screw in aperture, which I only use to occasionally sight
in the rifle. I feel the high front bead and peep sight is the fastest
combination for shooting in the brush at running deer.
Most of my shots are within 100 yards and many times my target is a fast
moving buck, crashing and leaping through the hardwoods.
I know this sight combination well and I can see the brush and the deer
and quickly find an opening in the trees where the buck will land.
When the buck settles onto that bead, I touch it off.
It is very important, I feel, to see as much as possible outside of the
sight picture when you are swinging on a trophy buck who is skedaddling away
from you just as fast as he can.
